The plot revolves around the adventures of a noble ( hidalgo) from La Mancha named Alonso Quixano, who reads so many chivalric romances that he loses his mind and decides to become a knight-errant ( caballero andante) to revive chivalry and serve his nation, under the name Don Quixote de la Mancha. Privately printed for The Navarre Society Limited. London, UK. 1923. 2 Volumes. Xix, 548 pgs; vii, 529 pgs. Illustrated with two portraits, eighteen plates and facsimiles of the original engraved titles. Made and printed in Great Britain.
Very Good, solid, clean some foxing, both volumes, on pace-downs and first end papers, slight spotting on few pages. Green cloth over boards, gold designs on front covers some light spotting to front and back covers. Spines has light green cloth over boards, extensive gold designs and lettering. Gilt at top edge. Hinge on Vol 1 is cracked, not detached. Fore-edge and tail have a deckle
cut. It leads me to believe that these two volumes were never read, at least not completely read. Approximately 50% of each volume have uncut pages, which mean these pages have not been read. I did not attempt to cut them.
